Brush Creek Man Faces Numerous Charges, Including Kidnapping and Leaving Scene of an Accident

August 31, 2016

A Brush Creek man faces numerous charges stemming from two separate events that took place in late July.

The first set of charges against the man, 47-year-old Bobby Joe Seay II of Brush Creek, stem from events that transpired on Friday, July 29, 2016.

According to Smith County Sheriff’s Office Detective Kit Jenkins’ report filed on August 15, Seay asked two females, one of whom being a minor under the age of 18, “to come inside his residence to look at work he had done to the residence.”

Upon entering the residence, Seay allegedly “shut and locked the door behind them.” According to the report, a pornographic movie was playing in the room in the view of both females. Seay then allegedly asked the females to kiss him before proceeding to perform a sex act in front of them.

According to the report, the females attempted to leave the residence several times, but when they would stand up to leave, Seay would “block the door and hold the door handle to prevent them from leaving.”

The next day, Saturday, July 30, Seay was involved in a crash on Interstate 40.

According to a report filed by Trooper Adam Cothron with the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Seay was driving a pickup truck on the interstate when he travelled into the median, striking the cable barrier and causing damage — disabling the truck.

Seay allegedly left the pickup truck in the median and left the scene of the crash without reporting it.

According to the report, Seay was driving on a revoked license for a DUI that occurred in Davidson County on May 4, 2011, and had not been reinstated.

Seay is being held in the Smith County Jail Facility without bond.

Among the charges Seay faces are: providing obscene material to minors, aggravated kidnapping, assault, solicitation of a minor to observe sexual conduct, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to give immediate notice of accident, and driving on a revoked license.

Seay’s court date has been set for Thursday, October 27.
