The Smith County Health Department provides a beneficial service to participants who smoke. The BABY & ME – Tobacco Free Program™ is designed to assist the participant to quit using tobacco products. To qualify for the program, participants must be a current tobacco product user or have quit within three months of becoming pregnant and be 36 weeks or less gestation. There are no guideline restrictions regarding age, insurance coverage, nor income levels.
To participate in the BABY & ME – Tobacco Free Program™, you attend four prenatal sessions and 12 postpartum sessions. If the participant has quit tobacco products by the third prenatal session and is nicotine free at each following session, the participant may receive a $25 voucher card to be used to purchase diapers and wipes.
The participant also has an opportunity to include another smoker living in the home, referred to as a partner. The partner follows the same requirements as the participant. After the baby is born, the tobacco free partner receives an additional $25 voucher card each of the 12 postpartum months for the participant to use toward the purchase of diapers and wipes.
A participant has the opportunity to earn up to $350.00 in vouchers. In addition, a partner could earn up to $300.00 in vouchers for a total of $650.00 in vouchers toward diapers and wipes. When using the voucher cards, participants can choose any brand or size of diapers and any brand of wipes.
