On June 26, Deputy Dillon Sandlin responded to Walmart to assist Officer John Baiera who was with two male suspects believed to have active warrants. Upon further investigation, only one of the men Mr. Michael Hudson had an active warrant from Blount County. Hudson was taken into custody without incident.
Upon further discussion the second male suspect it was determined that the car they both were traveling in belonged to the second male. He stated that Hudson had been in possession of heroin and if it was not on his person while being processed into the Smith County Jail, then it was likely in the car. The man consented to a vehicle search but no drugs were initially found.
The second suspect then indicated that Hudson had previously taken drugs into a corrections facility inside his body. Deputy Sandlin notified the Jail and went to the Jail’s booking area to speak with Hudson. After reading Hudson his Miranda rights he revealed that there was heroin inside a cigarette pack in the back compartment of the car.
Deputy Sandlin returned to Walmart to talk with the second male. Consent to search again was given and five individually wrapped cardboard folds each .2 grams of a heroin and fentanyl combination totaling 1 gram of the powdery substance.
Hudson was charged with two counts of manufacturing/delivery/sale of a controlled substances. He was being held without bond for another agency.
