Upper Cumberland Electric Membership Corporation shared the following announcement on their Facebook page in celebration of Lineworker Appreciation Day.

Thank you to all the dedicated lineworkers who serve Smith County and power our lives!

April 13, 2020, is Lineworker Appreciation Day.

Lineworkers serve on the front lines of our nation’s energy needs. Today, Upper Cumberland Electric Membership Corporation honors these dedicated men and women. We salute the service-oriented mentality that keeps them on-call 24/7. Their work not only makes our lives more comfortable and convenient, but they are working to provide uninterrupted service to hospitals during the uncertain, life-changing events surrounding the COVID-19 crisis.

Line crews work in difficult and dangerous conditions, and they’re on-call around the clock to keep power flowing to our community. Whether they’re restoring power after a major storm or maintaining critical infrastructure to our electric system, our lineworkers are at the heart of UCEMC.

When a storm hits, they set aside their personal priorities because Mother Nature doesn’t work around holidays, vacations, and birthdays.

UCEMC is proud to honor the 75 lineworkers who maintain nearly 5,000 miles of power lines in our service territory.

UCEMC invites all co-op members to take a moment and thank our lineworkers for the vital work they do. Today, please use #Thankalineworker on social media to show your support for the brave men and women who power our lives.
