The 44th Annual Smith County Chamber Banquet was held on Tuesday, March 20, at the Smith County Ag Center. Over 100 guests and members were present.
Several awards were given to citizens and business leaders. Presentations were made by Mayor Michael Nesbitt, Chris Ferrell, and Billy Woodard. Mayor Michael Nesbitt announced that Smith County will be receiving a $1,000,000 grant for industrial site development. In addition to this $1,000,000 grant, Smith County has also received a $350,000 grant from the TVA and a $101,000 grant from Tennessee Central for the purpose of preparing a new industrial site in Gordonsville on the Baker Farm and Gordonsville Development Properties. Michael Herman was elected as president of the Smith County Chamber of Commerce for the 2018-2019 year. See photos below:
