Since 2007, the Tennessee Tree Project has helped reforest TN by facilitating the planting of 637,100 native trees in our state. Each year Tennessee Tree Day engages thousands of volunteers in a fun, meaningful, family friendly, educational experience with multi-generational benefits to our environment, communities and public health. The purpose of this activity is to instill public awareness of the value of trees, improve the health of our environment and communities through the multitude of benefits trees offer, and to nurture a culture of sustainability in our region.

This year on Tree Day, Smith County 4-H’ers got in on the action, planting trees of their own.

We are proud of our 4-H Community Club members for constantly looking for ways to improve our county and the lives of those who live in it.

If you have a 7-12 grader interested in joining the Community Club or for further information relating to any of the many 4-H activities, events, and projects, please contact Katie Martin in the Smith County office of the University of Tennessee Extension at 615-735-2900.
