Six Smith County 4-H’ers traveled to Ridley 4-H Camp in Columbia, TN on Thursday, March 5th to compete in the Central Region Archery Competition.

The 4-H’ers who competed were Andrew Blair in the Junior Division, Jack Blair in the Junior High Division, and Abby Malone, Gary Claywell, Rebekah Woodard, and Keiri Woodard in the Senior Division.

After 70 archers shot 3 rounds at 10 meters and 3 rounds at 15 meters, placings were announced, and Keiri placed 10th, Abby placed 9th, and Gary placed 2nd.

We are proud of their hard work and are excited to see them, along with the other archery members, continue to improve as we prepare for the State Archery Jamboree held in April.

We would like to give a special thank you to our volunteer leaders, Kenny Claywell, Nathan Purtee, and John Laurie for the time and effort spent training this group.

The 4-H Shooting Sports program develops safe shooting habits in youth ages 8-19. Students practice under the guidance of certified instructors and coaches who have received over 15 hours of training in the areas of safety, techniques, coaching and youth development.
