Looking for some summer fun? What about something exciting and fun for your children or grandchildren to do this summer? Look no further than 4-H Camp! 4-H camps offer
4-H’ers a chance to have fun, meet new friends, hang out with old friends, learn new skills and develop positive self-esteem. Offering youth an exceptional learning experience, 4-H Camp builds self-confidence and maturity and provides youth with the chance to meet and make friends from throughout Tennessee.
4-H Camp registration will open April 9th for Smith County 4-H’ers and will remain open until the May 25th deadline at our office located at 125 Gordonsville Highway. This year partial scholarships will be available for Junior 4-H camp. Look for scholarship applications on our website: smith.tennesse.edu.
Junior 4-H camp, grades 4th – 6th, will be June 11th-15th at the Clyde York 4-H Camp in Crossville. Camp costs of $290 include meals, room, board, most activities and transportation. Activities consist of: zip lining, swimming, canoeing, fishing, arts & crafts, wildlife, sports, woodworking, tie-dyeing, air brush, rifle range, archery, and more! Activities are designed to be hands-on and fun so that children are actively engaged. Application forms may be picked up at the Smith County 4-H office and will be taken on a first come-first serve basis until the May 25th deadline. Adventure Camp- Jr. High, grades 7th and 8th, will be May 28-June 1 also at the Clyde York 4-H Center. The deadline for the registration of the Jr. High Camp is May 11th at the Smith County 4-H office. Come join the Recreation Nation for a week of exciting adventures and challenges guaranteed not to be your average camp! The theme for Jr. High Camp this year is 4-H World Tour. Grab your Jr. High 4-H Adventure Camp Passport and experience the culture and diversity of cultures throughout the world through dance, games, food, movies and more.
Tennessee 4-H offers a variety of camps and programs geared to specific age groups and to youth with special interests. Campers are given the structured independence to explore their interests through a number of activities. Besides the traditional camps, 4-H has specialty camps focusing on wildlife, fashion and design, electric energy, shooting sports, the environment, and technology.
The 4-H SPECIALTY CAMPS are listed as follows:
June 26-29: Electric Camp (Grades 6-7) – UT, Knoxville. – $280. Registration deadline is April 27th. Scholarships are available. Electric camp features learning centers using hands-on activities that allow 4-H members to learn by doing.
July 3-6: Target SMART Camp (Grades 5-9) – Columbia. Cost $275 + transportation (on your own). At camp youth learn appropriate skills to succeed in a variety of shooting sports and related areas. Programs emphasize safety, correct form and responsible use. Deadline to register is May 11th.
May 29-31: Focus on Fashion (Grades 8-12) – Nashville. Cost $175 + transportation. Campers experience tours and shopping while learning about fashion design. Registration is due April 6th.
July 10-12: Culinary Camp– 350° (Grades 6-8), Cookeville. Cost $150 + transportation. Campers enjoy many cooking activities, from bread and biscuit baking, to the science behind cooking. Registration deadline April 15th.
July 17-19: Agrimania (Grades 8-11), Henry Horton State Park. Cost $150 + transportation. Campers will get to hike, canoe, explore and learn more about nature and wildlife. Registration deadline April 27th.
