The 2nd Annual 321 DS 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run is taking place Saturday, October 1, at DeKalb West Elementary School at 8 am. The race was first organized in 2015 to help raise awareness for Down Syndrome and other special needs, with the funds raised going to benefit those with special needs in both DeKalb and Smith Counties. Support is provided through materials and resources to those with Down Syndrome in rural areas, scholarships, as well as support to DSMAT (Down Syndrome Association of Middle TN). In 2015, the run had over 200 participants and almost $5,000 given back to the communities.
Online registration will be open through 9 pm, September 28, at www.321run.weebly.com. Race day registration begins at 6:30 am and pre-registered check-in is at 7 am, race day. Early packet pick-up is on September 29, from 6-7 pm at the DeKalb West School gym: 101 Bulldog Lane, Liberty, Tennessee.
