The River City Ball was held on Saturday, May 7th at Catesa Farms. Each year, The River City Ball committee chooses an organization to benefit through an application and presentation process. The purpose is to rotate the cause each year to help organizations grow, not only financially, but through awareness from promotion. This year’s beneficiary was The American Legion Post 57.
A check for $20,917.90 was presented to members of the American Legion Post 57 by the River City Ball committee with Smith County Mayor, Jeff Mason before the June 18th Summer Concert at the Historic Carthage Courthouse.
Virginia Alexander, from the River City Ball committee said “We are so excited support the American Legion which has become more prominent in the community through the Summer Concert Series and the purchase of their own building on Main Street. We are so thankful to our sponsors and everyone who continues to make this event successful and look forward to seeing everyone again next year!”
The American Legion Post 57 Commander Jon Henry shared humble appreciation as the recipient of the 2022 River City Ball Fundraiser. “The River City Ball committee put in countless hours of hard work and planning to make one of the most successful events in our county. Thank you for all their hard work and to everyone who attended the River City Ball and for the generous donation. It was truly a great night of fun, food and fellowship. With this donation the veterans look forward to serving those who served our country, and their widows, children, and families.”
The American Legion Post 57 American Legion Post 57 exists to enhance the well being of Smith County veterans and their families. They invest in programs such as Boys and Girls State, Boy Scouts, and Girl Scouts. They advocate for patriotism and honor, promoting strong national security, and continued devotion to fellow service members and veterans.
