The UT Extension office in Smith County is excited to announce the 2020 Home & Farm School to be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2020, at Smith County Middle School. Registration starts at 5:00 p.m. with classes beginning at 5:30 p.m. The event is free to the public and will include a meal sponsored by Smith Farmers Co-Op.
Participants of the Home & Farm School will be able to select two, 45-minute presentations in the areas of Beekeeping, Home Horticulture, Production Agriculture, Home & Health, and Cooking. Class options include:
- Production Agriculture: Cattle Feeding Strategies & Hemp – Lessons Learned & Looking Forward
- Beekeeping: Beekeeping Pests & Beekeeping Disease Detection, Prevention, & Management
- Home Horticulture: Landscaping Do’s & Don’ts & Small Fruits for the Backyard
- Cooking: Cast Iron Cooking & Instant Pot Cooking
- Home & Health: Deskercise – Workout at Work & Flower Arranging
The keynote speaker during supper will be Smith County native and motivational humorist Jack McCall. Jack presents over 100 speeches and seminars annually to Fortune 500 companies, small to mid-size companies, non-profit organizations, associations, churches, universities and schools.
The UT Extension Home & Farm School promises to be a night of good food, entertainment, and learning.
While the event is free to the public, it is required that attendees call the UT Extension office to sign up by calling 615-735-2900 by January 10 in order to get an accurate meal count.
