With her family at her bedside, Mrs. Jill Beechboard, her family with tearful eyes and heavy hearts, endured her passing from her earthly journey to her heavenly reward at the TriStar Summit Medical Center in Hermitage at 6:05 a.m. Wednesday morning July 22, 2026. The Rome Community resident and longtime Hogans Creek Community resident, was admitted Sunday evening July 19th. Suffering from heart complications she passed at the age of 68. Eld. Stephen Farley Brooks and Mrs. Beechboard’s pastor, Eld. Dave Silcox officiated at the 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon July 25th funeral services from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Beechboard family plot on the Garden of Everlasting Life at the Smith County Memorial Gardens. The Beechboard family will receive friends only on Saturday July 25th at Sanderson in Carthage from 10 a.m. until the 1 p.m. services. The youngest of five daughters born to the late Virgil Savage Silcox who also died at the age of 58 from heart complications on February 2, 1979 and Ruth Evelyn Webb Silcox who died at the age of 77 on September 4, 2004, she was born Jill Elaine Silcox at the former Petty-Green Clinic in Carthage on April 28, 1958. Two sisters preceded her in death, Cristol Dean Silcox Hughes who died May 27, 2018 at the age of 73 and Lois Loretta Hamlet who died September 24, 2023 at the age of 82. Mrs. Beechboard was a 1976 graduate at Smith County High School and majored in Home Economics and Business. She was also a member of the student council, office staff and pep club. In the clerk’s office of then County Clerk Joe Scruggs, she was united in marriage on November 23, 1983 to Hogans Creek Community resident William (Billy) Beechboard. She was saved at the age of 11 at the East Carthage Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Eld. R. D. Brooks and was baptized into the full fellowship of the East Carthage Missionary Baptist Church. She later transferred her membership by letter from East Carthage to the South Carthage Missionary Baptist where she remained a member at her death. Mrs. Beechboard retired in 2016 as secretary at the Carthage Elementary School, a position she held for twenty years. Surviving in addition to her husband Bill, of almost forty-three years, is their son, Eld. Beau Beechboard and wife Rachel Grey Beechboard and their daughter Chloe of the Rome Community; two sisters, Jeanette Silcox Clariday of Donelson and Rose Silcox Carter and husband Garry of the Turkey Creek Community. Mr. Ernest Odell Wallace, age 89 of Hartsville, TN passed away Monday morning, July 20, 2026 at Hartsville Health and Rehab.

Mr. Wallace was preceded in death by his Parents, Clarence and Ida Estelle Denham Wallace; Wife, Dorothy Blackwell Wallace and Son, Ernest Odell Wallace.

With her husband at her bedside, the family tearfully witnessed the passing of their loving Wanda Payne as she transitioned from here earthly journey to be with her heavenly father at 7:45 p.m. Friday evening July 17, 2026 at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center where she was admitted July 10th following many months of kidney dialysis. Mrs. Payne, a homemaker of the Sykes Community, was 78 years of age.

She was born Wanda Jean Alcorn in Sparta in White County on February 19, 1948 and was one of two sons and two daughters of the late Albert Whitson Alcorn who died July 4, 1985 at the age of 66 and Pauline Jones Alcorn who died February 16, 1993 at the age of 73.

Mrs. Payne was a 1966 graduate of the Westmoreland High School.

At the Defeated Creek Park on July 20, 1996, she was united in marriage to Brush Creek Community native Benjamen Cleveland (Benny) Payne. The ceremony was performed by Benny’s uncle, the late Pastor Jerry Smith.

Mrs. Payne suffered the loss of one of her two sons, Travis Shane Denton who died as the result of a stroke and kidney failure at the age of 40 on October 6, 2011.

Well known for her many years of service in Smith County government offices, she was first employed as a clerk in the Smith County Clerk’s office under longtime former clerk, Jimmy Norris.

In 2010 she retied from the Smith County Highway Department as a secretary to the late highway commissioner, Ralph Coble. She was employed with the highway department for eighteen years before her retirement.

Mrs. Payne was a member of the former Carthage Christian Church on Mian Street in Carthage, which was destroyed in a fire in April of 2004.

Surviving in addition to her husband Benny of almost thirty years is her son, Lyle Denton of the Buffalo Community; sister, Carol Gann and husband Roger of the Cato Community; two brothers, Mike Alcorn of South Carthage and James Alcorn and wife Chris of Carthage, six grandchildren, Lucas, Tyler, Logan, and Natalie Denton all of Carthage, Ashley Webb and husband Jared of the Pleasant Shade Community, Olivia Denton and husband Brian Bogue of the Hogans Creek Community.

Mrs. Jeanette Gammon Watts age 62 of Carthage was discovered unresponsive at 2:51 a.m. Thursday morning July 16, 2026 at her Jefferson Avenue West home and was pronounced deceased at 3:36 a.m. at the Highpoint Health-Riverview with Ascension Saint Thomas Medical Center Emergency Room.

Eld. Rickey Hall and Eld. Stephen Brooks will officiate at the 11 a.m. funeral services on Tuesday morning July 21st. Burial will follow in the Gammon family lot at the Patterson Cemetery on Hesson Ridge Lane in the Russell Hill Community with Eld. Michael Nesbitt officiating.

Congregational singing was led by Jimmy Wilburn.

The Watts family will receive friends at Sanderson in Carthage on Monday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and again on Tuesday after 9 a.m.

Mrs. Watts was born at the former McFarland Hospital in Lebanon on August 31, 1963 and was one of three children, a daughter and two sons of the late Lafayette native Willie Cefus Gammon Jr. who died June 10, 1994 at the age of 64 and Russell Hill Community native Martha Christine Gammon who died May 12, 2002 at the age of 72.

Her two brothers, Jackie Gammon preceded her in death at the age of 72 on October 15, 2023 and Jerry Gammon who died at the age of 77 on June 22, 2025.

Mrs. Watts was a member of the 1981 graduating class at Smith County High School where she was active in the music program and served as the chorus club president her senior year and was Library Club reporter her senior year. The music activities included being in the marching band, the chorus, the Spring Festival, and was voted by her classmates as the “Most Talented” girl her senior year.

Mrs. Watts was united in marriage at the Hartsville Missionary Baptist Church to Hickman Community native Bruce Glynn Watts on September 11, 1982.

Jeanette was a member of the well-known Gammon Carthage Grocery family who established the Carthage I.G.A. on December 6, 1978 which was later changed to Foodland of Carthage. All of the Gammon family were involved in the operation of the popular Main Street North grocery which was located where the Upper Cumberland Electric Membership Cooperative corporate offices are now located next door to Sanderson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Watts was saved as a teenager and at the time of her death was a member of the Green Valley Missionary Baptist Church and also attended the North Gordonsville Missionary Baptist Church.

She was a talented piano player and singer. She played and sang for many church service and revivals at various churches.

Surviving in addition to her husband Bruce of almost forty-four years are their two sons, Matt Watts of Carthage, Jesse Watts also of Carthage; granddaughter, Margaret Watts of Carthage; sister-in-law, Suzanne Davis Gammon of the Tanglewood Community; nieces and nephews, Heather Gammon, Christine England, Julie Wyatt, Jerry Wayne Gammon, and Susan Gammon.

The Watts family has requested memorials to the Patterson Cemetery mowing fund.

Ethel “Marie” Warden Winfree, 79, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2026, under hospice care at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Farragut, Tennessee.

Born on November 4, 1946, in Beckley, West Virginia, Marie was the daughter of Paul William Warden and Evelyn Vera Henson Warden. She graduated from Fort Myers High School in 1964, and devoted her life to taking care of others.

Marie was happiest surrounded by God’s creation on her beloved Seabo Valley Farm in Lancaster, Tennessee with her beloved “critters”. Over the years, she opened both her home and her heart to people and animals alike, loving each as her own. She had made it her mission in life to take care of and make others feel safe, valued, and loved.

Due to her faith in Christ as her provider, Marie was happy and care-free, often quoting Philippians 4:19 “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.”

She is survived by her daughter, Dawn Marie Palumbo DeNardo (Joel); granddaughters, Maddy Moyers and Mackenzie Moyers Gallentine (Colin); sister-in-law, Kaylene Warden; nieces and nephews, as well as countless “chosen” sons and daughters who lovingly knew her as “Mom Marie.”

She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Mario Anthony Palumbo (5/28/1974-3/07/2007); her husband, O.W. Winfree; her parents, Paul and Evelyn Warden; her siblings, Janet Sue Butler, Richard “Dick” Warden, Myrtle “Louise” Hill, and Paul William “Bill” Warden.

The family and friends held services on on Monday, July 20, 2026, at Bass Funeral Home in Gordonsville, Tennessee with Bro Kerry Dugan officiating, Interment will followed in the Gordonsville Cemetery.

Her family rejoices that the hope Marie so faithfully shared throughout her life has now become her eternal reality in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Olen Dallas Rose, known lovingly to many as Olen Rose, passed away on July 12, 2026, at his residence in Gainesboro, Tennessee, at the age of 83.  Born on July 2, 1943, to parents: Joseph Albert Rose and Elizabeth Rose in Virginia.  He later wed Frances Ruth Rose.  He lived a life marked by hard work, devotion to family, and a spirit that was both selfless and adventurous. He departed this life leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and cherished memories that will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

Olen was a man who understood the value of labor and commitment. He worked for many years as a brick layer, a trade that reflected his steady hands, strong character, and willingness to build something lasting. He took pride in honest work and carried that same sense of purpose into every part of his life. Whether he was on the job, tending to his home, or spending time with those he loved, Olen approached each day with quiet determination and a dependable presence that others could count on.

Family was the center of Olen’s life, and he was deeply devoted to those closest to him. He is survived by his children: Dallas Rose and his wife Deanna of Pleasant Shade, Tn, Mark Allen Rose and his wife Marilyn of Caledonia, Ohio, and Jennifer Hess and her husband Larry of Dodson Branch, Tn., his brother, Luther Rose of Meadow View, Virginia, and his sisters: Lilly Texas Rose of Coeburn, Virginia, and Nancy Rowland of Virginia. He also leaves behind twelve grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him great pride and joy. Olen was a dedicated husband to his ailing wife, standing by her with loyalty, patience, and love through the challenges they faced together. His devotion to his family was evident in the way he cared for them, supported them, and made sure they knew they were loved.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Frances Ruth Rose; and great grandchild: Zander Ray Rose of Virginia.  The bonds of family were important to Olen throughout his life, and he treasured the relationships he shared with his siblings, children, grandchildren, and extended family. His loved ones will remember him as a man who gave of himself freely and who found meaning in the simple but important things in life.

Olen was a Christian and attended Willette Christian Church whenever his health allowed. His faith was an important part of his life, and it provided comfort and strength during both good times and difficult ones. He lived with a quiet humility that reflected his beliefs, and his life served as an example of perseverance, kindness, and trust in God’s care. Those who worshiped alongside him will remember his steady presence and his sincere heart.

In his younger and healthier years, Olen enjoyed many of life’s pleasures. He loved to fish and found peace in the outdoors. He also enjoyed gardening and canning, taking satisfaction in growing and preserving the fruits of his labor. He canned all types of wildlife, a skill and pastime that reflected both his resourcefulness and his appreciation for the traditions of country living.  Above all, he was a proud grandpa, and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren held a special place in his heart. He was selfless in the way he cared for others, loving in the way he spoke and acted, and adventurous in the way he embraced life.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Christa Ayres for taking such outstanding care of him and his late wife. Her kindness and dedication were deeply appreciated and brought comfort during his final days. Olen’s family is grateful for the compassion shown to him and for the love surrounding him throughout his life.

Olen Dallas Rose will be remembered as a hardworking man with a generous spirit, a devoted family man, and someone who lived life with honesty, strength, and heart. His memory will remain a blessing to all who knew and loved him. Though he is no longer present in body, the love he gave, the lessons he taught, and the example he set will continue to guide his family for years to come.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. in John L. Clark Memorial Cemetery.  Mr. Glenn Bush will be officiating.

Danny Combs Murray, known to family and friends as Buzz, passed away on July 14, 2026, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born on June 28, 1950, in Hazzard, Kentucky, and lived a life marked by loyalty, friendship, and a strong devotion to the people and communities he held dear.

Buzz was the son of Denver Combs and Reba June Murray Jones. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Fred Combs, his wives Kate Allen Murray, Julia Hileman-Murray, and Patty Stacey, and many club brothers who were an important part of his life.

For more than 50 years, Buzz was a member of a MC in Dayton, Ohio, where he formed lasting bonds and built a brotherhood that remained meaningful to him throughout his life. His long-standing involvement reflected his deep sense of loyalty and his appreciation for the friendships that stood the test of time. He was proud of the connections he made and the memories he shared with those who traveled life’s road beside him.

Buzz is survived by his son, Danny Murray and his wife Shannon of Troy, Ohio, and his daughter, Dakota Murray of Cookeville, Tennessee. He also leaves behind his wife, Wendi Copeland-Murray of Pleasant Shade, Tennessee, and stepchildren Lisa Agnor of Dayton, Ohio, and Erika Craig of Pensacola, Florida. His surviving siblings include his brother Andy Murray of Ohio and his sisters Jan Cox of Ohio, Julie Thompson of Ohio, Linda Hill of Kentucky, Joan Tucker of Florida, and Brenda Crosby of Georgia.

He was a proud grandfather to Michael Murray of Troy, Ohio, Danny Murray Jr. of Troy, Ohio, Eastleigh Huddleston of Cookeville, Tennessee, and Zariah Murray of Cookeville, Tennessee. He also leaves behind his great-grandchild, Everest Murray of Troy, Ohio. Buzz is further survived by family friends and club brothers who will remember him with affection and respect.

Mrs. Marilyn Reinking of South Carthage, a beloved child of God, now living forever with her Lord Jesus, departed her earthly walk on Friday morning July 10, 2026, six days following her 91st birthday. She was pronounced deceased by Gentiva Hospice of Livingston at 8:30 a.m. at the Smith County Health and Rehabilitation Center in Carthage where she had resided since June 5th.

Mrs. Reinking is at the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home where her funeral services are scheduled to be conducted Saturday afternoon July 18th at 3 p.m. with Bro. Jackie Dawson and Pastor Tom Hilpert will officiate and burial will follow in the Harrison West Cemetery on Martin Hollow Road in the Difficult Community.

The Reinking family will receive relatives and friends only on Saturday July 18th from 1 p.m. until the 3 p.m. services at Sanderson in Carthage.

Mrs. Reinking was born Marilyn Mildred Franz in Cincinnati in Hamilton County, Ohio on July 4, 1935 and was the first-born child of the late Stanley Leon Franz who died September 7, 1997 at the age of 89 and Irma Ida Jutzi Franz who died June 6, 2006 at the age of 93.

For many years she was an only child, often fondly stating she had “wished upon a star” for a sister, not understanding her wish was a prayer. She was 13 when sister, Eileen was born.

She was a graduate of Walnut Hills High School and the University of Cincinnati School of Nursing, becoming a registered nurse and spending many years caring for and loving her patients in nursing homes and psychiatric facilities and also spending part of her career as a nursing instructor.

In 1957 she was united in marriage to Howard Lee Reinking whom preceded her in death on May 13, 2012, a marriage that lasted for fifty years until his 2012 death.

A daughter, Patricia Eileen Burke preceded her in death.

Mrs. Reinking suffered the loss of three children, Mark who died in 1958 and David who died in 1974 and were miscarried and Patty, who died in 2016 as the result of a motorcycle accident.

She also suffered the loss of a grandchild, Daniel Howard Burk to a miscarriage in 1993.

Marilyn was a devout Christian, raising her children in the Lutheran (LCMS) faith and becoming involved in several Christian outreach programs, including Christians United Reaching Everyone (CURE), serving multiple times as their summer camp nurse. Through this program she met George Graham, whom she supported faithfully in his missionary work in Liberia for over fifty years, coming to think of him as a son and brother in Christ. In 2005, she traveled to Africa as part of a Theophostic Prayer Ministry, which fulfilled a desire she’d had since youth of serving in foreign missions. After moving to Carthage in 2009, she continued her evangelistic efforts, forming a group for “Prayer on the Square” and joining in worship with several other churches.

She was a proud American, serving her community as a Girl Scout leader and as an advocate for children and women through the CASA program, the Pregnancy Crisis Center and the Emmanuel House. She could be seen carrying an American flag as she walked in her various communities, often a conversation starter that provided an opportunity to speak about her faith and desire to bring America back to its Christian foundation.

She lived independently until the age of 89, when she moved into long-term care. Marilyn adjusted to her new surroundings, made new acquaintances, maintained her sense of humor, and kept her outgoing personality despite limited mobility in her last years of residence on Earth. She continued to express her faith and always wanted to hear the family sing together when they gathered. Singing was the highlight of her birthday celebrations. She was a beloved child of God and has made her final move to live and sing in his presence forever.

She was the mother of six children, three of whom are surviving, Bonita Johnson and husband Steve of Monticello, Kentucky, Paul Reinking and wife Kimberly and Diane Morris and husband Roger, all of the Difficult Community in Tennessee.

In addition to her remaining children, she is survived by her sister, Eileen Franz of Cincinnati, Ohio; her niece Breanna, 9 grandchildren: William Truett and wife Rachel, Bryant Reinking, Rebekah Cottle and husband Griffin, Brandon Reinking, James Truett and wife Kay, Shelby Gilbert and husband Sean, Rachel Burke, Michael Burke and wife Christine Settembrino, and Anthony Morris; 7 great-grandchildren: Noah, Lorene, Sara, John, Leah, and Emma Truett and Russel Cottle.

Jo Ann Wilburn, age 84, of Portland, Tennessee entered into her heavenly home on Thursday, July 9, 2026. Billy Virgil Fann, lovingly known to family and friends as “Rooster”, age 84, of Gainesboro, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at his home Sunday, July 12, 2026, surrounded by those he loved.

Billy was born on Friday, September 19, 1941, in Nashville, Tennessee. He was the son of the late Virgil Fann and the late Mindy Ford. He shared 51 1/2 wonderful years of marriage with the love of his wife Mary Kathleine Fann, building a lifetime of cherished memories together.

Billy never asked for much in life. He was happiest enjoying the simple things- singing karaoke with family and friends, listening to, and singing songs by Elvis Presley, playing a friendly game of pool, or gathering around for a cookout surrounded by people he loved. He had a way of turning ordinary moments into lasting memories, and his presence will be deeply missed every single day.

Billy is survived by his wife of 51 1/2 years, Mary Kathleine Fann, 2 sons; Shane (Darlene) Fann, Billy Ray Fann, daughter; Tracy Fann, 12 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 2 brothers; Jerry Fann, Eddie Fann, and 1 sister, Jean Case.

In addition to his parents, Billy is preceded in death by his son, Elvis Brooks Fann, 3 brothers, Charley Fann, Cecil Fann. and Frank Fann.

A Graveside service will be held at 2:45 PM on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at Granville Cemetery, located at 196 Holleman Bend Ln, Granville, Tennessee 38564.
