Smith County Leadership Class of 2016 presents check for Carthage Junction Depot sign

May 17, 2017

The Leadership Opportunity Smith County Class of 2016’s project was to raise money to be able to buy a sign for the Carthage Junction Depot that is now located in South Carthage, Tenn.

The Carthage Junction Depot has been a landmark in Smith County since the late 1800s. The Depot will be used as a museum and art gallery for Smith County, displaying memorabilia and military uniforms of the men who boarded trains from this building and also showcasing local artist’s work. The Carthage Junction Depot Committee has many other ideas to help make this Historic Landmark a tourist attraction in Smith County.

The 2016 LOSC Class is sought donations from local businesses and individuals to make their project successful. The LOSC Class was able to raise $2720 to pay for the sign. The LOSC Class would like to sincerely thank the following businesses and individuals that contributed to the project:

  • Bass Funeral Home
  • Citizens Bank
  • Taiho Manufacturing
  • Smith Farmers Coop
