(Smith County Insider Press) Gordonsville, Tenn. – John and Jack Wright are some of Smith County’s youngest entrepreneurs. However, don’t let their ages fool you, these boys know how to smoke some meat and do it the “Wright” way. The eldest, John, is 17 and younger brother Jack is 14 and they are both students at GHS. The boys got their business started almost by accident. Their father, Bryan Wright, started a Wright Brother’s BBQ Facebook page in hopes that the boys might do a little catering in the future and the rest is history. Since October of 2013 they have cooked for charity events, weddings, church dinners, and many other types of events. Wright Brother’s BBQ has won the Smith County Fair barbecue contest twice already.
Their specialties are made-from-scratch pulled pork, baked beans, red potato salad, and coleslaw. Their most popular specialty is one you won’t be able to get enough of, Smoked Bologna. They also offer Smoked Pork Loins, Bacon Wrapped Fatties, Steaks, Chicken, Grilled Pork Loin, Whole Hogs, and Shrimp & Crawfish Boils. The boys make their own rub and sauce which have both North Carolina and Western Kentucky influences. Their barbecue is never cooked in sauce, but is slow cooked in a Lang smoker with seasoned hickory. They have one very special secret ingredient for their sides, bacon!
