Brush Creek Haunted Barn October 2022

The Brush Creek Haunted Barn will be at 34 Luther Allen Lane. It will take place October 21st ,22nd ,23rd- October 28th, 29th, 30th and 31st from 7-10 pm.
Donations will be accepted at the entrance. All donations received will benefit Smith County Humane.
Make plans to attend the 5th annual Gordonsville Halloween Bash set for October 31, 2022
The Gordonsville Events Committee will host the annual Gordonsville Halloween Bash from 5:00 p.m until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 31, 2022. The event will take place on East Main Street in Gordonsville. The committee is working diligently to make this event bigger and better, while keeping it safe for everyone to enjoy.
The Halloween Bash will feature a photo booth, music, dancing, door prizes, a $250 cash giveaway, a costume contest, TONS of candy and much more! Domino’s Pizza and Helen’s Restaurant will be at this year’s bash serving freshly cooked pizza, fish, chicken, fried oreos and much more. Southern Shave & Brew Co. will also be in attendance serving a variety of shakes, frappes, and sno cones.
Nearly 50 businesses, churches, and organziations have signed up to participate in the bash. Particpants will be setup in the area of Bass Funeral Home, First Baptist Church – Gordonsville, and the former Shoprite building.
A new addition to the 2022 Gordonsville Halloween Bash will be a shuttle service. There will be two 13 passenger shuttle buses running non-stop throughout the evening and will be stopping at numerous parking lots near the event. Shuttles will begin running at 4:45pm and will continue until 8:00pm.
Parking will be available at the following locations and there will be a bus stop at each parking lot:
- Living Waters Ministries Church of God
- Ivy Agee Park
- Citizens Bank (after 5:00pm)
- Wilson Bank & Trust (after 5:00pm)
- Gordonsville Drugs (after 5:30)
- Classic Cuts/Gordonsville Family Wellness (after 5:00pm)
If your business, organization, or church is interested participating in the event by either coming to setup a booth to hand out candy or donating a door prize, please send an email to GordonsvilleHalloweenBash@gmail.com. The Gordonsville Events Committee is also inviting individuals or families to come to the event and hand out candy.
This event is safe, fun and FREE for the whole family.
To ensure the safety of the hundreds of children and families who will be out enjoying the festivities, a section of Main Street will be closed to through traffic from 4:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
The closed section will span from the Main Street/Hickman Highway/Gordon Drive intersection to the Main Street/Maple Street intersection between the high school and the elementary school.
If you need to get to your home in the closed section, law enforcement officers will be at the barriers to let you through. If you need to travel through Gordonsville, please use Hickman Highway/Oak Drive/Maple Street to bypass the middle of town.

Smith County Shriner annual paper sale road block fundraiser set for Sunday, October 23

The annual Smith County Shrine Paper Sale road block fundraiser will be held on Sunday morning, October 23, 2022 from 8-10:30am. The Paper Sale Road Block will take place in front of the Historic Smith County Courthouse in Carthage, Tenn.
The annual event is a benefit for Shriners Hospitals for Children, which provides high-quality medical care at no cost to children age 18 and younger. Shriners Hospitals for Children are changing lives every day through innovative pediatric specialty care, world-class research and outstanding medical education. Their health care system provides advanced care for children with orthopaedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries, and cleft lip and palate.
During the paper sale, area Shriners accept donations to the hospital network and provide the donors with the latest copy of the Shrine newspaper, which contains the touching stories of children who have received care at a Shriners Hospital.

16th Annual Chad’s Run back In-Person Saturday, November 5, 2022

The 16th annual Chad’s Run will be held on Saturday, November 5th. This year’s race will be in person starting at Gordonsville High School. Participants will walk/run the
The registration deadline to receive a shirt is October 21st. Registration for a short sleeve shirt is $25, and $30 for a long sleeve shirt.
Participants are asked to share photos and race times on the Chad’s Run Facebook Page.
The proceeds of the race will go to Chad’s continued care and to fund two scholarships that are awarded each year, one to a GHS student and one to a SCHS student who plans to pursue a career in the medical field. Keep Smith County Beautiful Fall Clean-up Day October 17, 2022

The Keep Smith County Beautiful committee is hosting a Spring Break clean-up day on Monday, October 17, 2022, The day will begin at the Smith County Ag Center at 9 a.m.
Gloves, trash bags and safety vests will be available to volunteers. Community service hours will be verified if needed.
The event ends at 1 p.m. A light breakfast and lunch will be provided. Bring the family and serve the community together.
Monitoring your child’s digital world workshop on Oct. 13th

Smith County Schools will host the 2nd community event to continue informing parents on trends in social media and how to protect and monitor their child’s digital world.
The topics for the evening will include
- The impact of cell phones on our children
- Popular and trending apps, vaults, and lockers
- Tips, software, and tools for providing a safe and monitored digital environment in your home
- Question and answer session for parents to ask the experts

Southside Lions Club 9th Annual Smith County Antique Tractor Pull set for October 8, 2022

The Southside Lions Club will be hosting their 9th Annual Smith County Antique Tractor Pull on Saturday, October 8, 2022, at 5:00 p.m. at the Smith County Ag Center.
Admission is free. Concessions will be available for purchase at the event.
Registration for pullers will begin at 4:00 p.m. There will be a $20.00 hook-up fee for each pull for all participants.
This will be a great event for the entire family, so come out and support our local Southside Lions Club!

Carthage Rotary Club “All You Can Eat” Pancake Breakfast set for October 14-15, 2022

The Carthage Rotary Club will offer their fall “all-you-can-eat” pancake breakfast on Friday, October 14 and Saturday, October 15 at the old Gordonsville Shop Rite location.
Breakfast will be served from 6:00 AM until 9:30 AM on Friday and from 7:00 AM until 9:30 AM on Saturday.
Tickets may be purchased for $7.00 from any Rotarian or at the door. Children 4 years and under may eat free. Rotarians will deliver carry-out orders to Carthage for free.
Proceeds will benefit the scholarships awarded to seniors at Gordonsville High School and at Smith County High School.
The old Gordonsville Shop Rite is located in Gordonsville on Main Street across from Town Hall and Bass Funeral Home, and beside the Gordonsville First Baptist Church.

Reserved seating tickets for the first ever Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre shows are going fast! Reservations can be purchased at Smith County Drug Store.
Clue On Stage, presented by the Smith County Fine Arts Center – The Olde Court Theatre Company will run from October 14 through 29 at the Historic Smith County Courthouse. The production is based on the Paramount Pictures Motion Picture and Hasbro, Inc. board game. Tickets are available, cash or check, at Smith County Drug Center now.
The catered dinner with show price is $25 for Oct 14, 15, 21, 22, and 28. A special late-night 9:00 pm show on Oct 29 is $20 and includes sandwiches, chips, drinks, and other haunted Halloween treats. Dinner theatre sponsors include Wilson Bank and Trust, UCEMC Cares, Circle S Catering, and Donna’s Kitchen.
