Flea Market and Craft Sale at Defeated Creek Marina

Defeated Creek Marina and Campground will host a flea market and craft sale on Saturday, August 17th 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. The event is free to the public.

There will be lots of vendors and food trucks. The kids area will include bounce houses, ice cream cotton candy and a petting zoo.

The event is located at 160 Marina Lane, Carthage, TN.

Rival Revival at Historic Courthouse on August 21st

For His Glory Ministries will host “Rival Revival” on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 on the steps and lawn of the Historic Smith County Courthouse.

The event will begin at 6 p.m. with speakers Josh Gibbs, Larry Dillard and Jesse Harris. Music will be provided by the Nesbitts. Free hotdogs and hamburgers will be available while supplies last.

Bring your own chair and join the celebration of fans, community, and faith.

Blood drive at Kempville Old Time Methodist Church

The American Red Cross will be at the Kempville Chapel Old Time Methodist Church (196 Kempville Highway) on Tuesday, August 13, from 1:00 to 6:00p. m. To schedule an appointment please visit RedCrossBlood.org and enter sponsor code: Preds19

4th Annual Justified Bug Run on August 10, 2024

The Justified Riding Club will host the 4th Annual Bug Run on August 10, 2024. The ride will start at Defeated Elementary School. There will be various stops during the ride that will end back at the school. All proceeds will benefit Defeated Elementary Classrooms and students.

Registration is $20 a bike or car and $10 a passenger. Registration begins at 10 a.m. and the ride will start at 11 a.m.

Free Back to School Haircuts on July 29th

Free back to school haircuts will be offered at The Spot on July 29th from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. Several local hair stylists and barbers are participating.

The Smith County Drug Prevention Coalition will be providing free school supplies. Snacks and drinks will also be available. The Spot is located at 107 3rd Avenue East, Carthage TN.

Community KidZ Choir performance this Saturday, July 20th

This year, over 30 children across Smith County and surrounding areas participated in the Community KidZ Choir week-long camp. They will host a worship service on July 20, 2024 at 6pm at the Smith County Ag Center and present the musical Christmas Starr!

They have been collecting hygiene items for the local assisted living center and nursing home residents. If you’d like to contribute to this service project, you can bring shampoo, conditioner, body soap, lotion, deodorant, toothbrushes and/or toothpaste. There is no admission cost.

American Legion FREE Concert Series on Saturday, July 20th

The Veterans of American Legion Post 57 will hold a free summer concert at the Historic Smith County Courthouse in Downtown Carthage on July 20th from 6-9 PM.

The American Legion Auxillary will be selling desserts and drinks and giving out waters. Also, the Veteran’s raffle for an 45 ACP has limited tickets, come out and buy your ticket for a chance to win before they are sold out. Bring a lawn chair, your family, and friends, and be ready for some great music on the old courthouse square

Beat the Back-to-School Blues at the Smith County Back-2-School Bash!

The Smith County Events Committee is thrilled to announce the return of the Back-to-School Bash! This free, family-friendly event will be held on Saturday, July 27th from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Smith County Chamber of Commerce.

The Bash is the perfect way to kick off the new school year with a fun-filled afternoon. Students and families can enjoy:

  • Free School Supply Giveaway: Ease the burden of back-to-school shopping with a giveaway of essential school supplies tailored to county class supply lists.
  • Bounce Houses: Let the kids burn off some energy and have a blast on the exciting bounce houses!
  • Foam Party: Cool down and have a blast at the one-of-a-kind foam party!

“We’re excited to bring back the Back-to-School Bash and provide some fun and support to our community,” said Stephanie, Chair for the Smith County Events Committee. “The event is a great way to get students geared up for the new school year while creating lasting memories.”
