Local Artist Showcase at Carthage Junction October 12th

The Carthage Junction Depot will be host to a Local Author Showcase on October 12 from 10am-4pm. A wide variety of talented authors will come together for this special event, eager to meet loyal fans and curious readers. Many will come with a variety of their publications available to be purchased and signed by the authors.
Participating authors include Ronald Kelly, Lorrie McDonald, Loyd Elmore, Charles Cole, and Kelly Martin.

Born and bred in Tennessee, Ronald Kelly has been an author of Southern-fried horror fiction for 40years, with fifteen novels, eighteen short story collections, and a Grammy-nominated audio collection to his credit. Influenced by such writers as Stephen King, Robert McCammon, Joe R. Lansdale, and Manly Wade Wellman, Kelly sets his tales of rural darkness in the hills and hollows of his native state and other locales of the American South. His published works include Fear, Undertaker’s Moon, Blood Kin, Hell Hollow, Hindsight, The Halloween Store & Other Tales of All Hallows’ Eve, After the Burn, and The Saga of Dead-Eye series. Kelly’s collection of extreme horror tales, The Essential Sick Stuff, won the 2021 Splatterpunk Award for Best Collection. Helives in a backwoods hollow in Brush Creek, Tennessee with his wife and young’uns.

Lorrie McDonald is a local author who took care of her mother-in-law, Lois McCall McDonald, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease. Lorrie set about learning all she could about the disease and was able to improve her mother-in-law’s quality of life drastically. So much so that Lois’s neurologist suggested Lorrie write a book. The book is filled with real-life examples of ways you can help your loved one dealing with any form of dementia. It is also full of great ways to keep your memory from failing. She also will have a free handout of detailed new ways of guarding your brain that she has compiled
since the book was published. Brain health and helping others are a passion for Lorrie!

Loyd Elmore Jr was born in Fort Worth and at the ripe old age of one, Loyd’s family moved to Middle Tennessee. Loyd grew up on everything nerdy (comic books, Star Wars, G.I. Joe, Indiana Jones, and Stephen King.) And these are loves that Loyd never let go of. Loyd decided that writing books as well as reading them was what he was destined to do.
Loyd Elmore Jr writes stories that range from horror that will keep you up at night, adventure that will take you a thousand miles without leaving your home, and science fiction that will make you consider that anything is possible.

Charles Cole is the author of the Moonspell Series, an old Norwegian story of witches and warlocks, love triangles, spells, and monsters. he also produced his own metaphysical visual poem: Rebirth.

Kelly Martin lives in a possibly haunted house in a small southern town. While she’d like to say paranormal things have only happened to her at her home, it would be a lie… She is an international #1 best selling author in horror, paranormal, contemporary, historical, young adult, and mysteries. All of Kelly’s books have one thing in common– imagine the real world is tilted slightly on its side. You don’t really know what’s going on, what’s missing, but there is a tilt, a hum you can barely hear, telling you that something is off. Although Kelly will unfortunately not be able to join us in person, she will have signed books available for purchase at the event.
Come out and support our local authors and bring home great memories and stories to share. Be sure to keep an eye out for other upcoming events listed on the Carthage Junction Depot Facebook page. The Carthage Junction Depot is home to a small railroad museum featuring railroad memorabilia and images of its historic place along the Central railway line and hosts monthly events to celebrate the arts in our community.
