The GHS Band and Tiger Football Booster Club will host a Community Movie Night featuring Hocus Pocus on Saturday, October 3, at Turney Ford Field. Gates will open at 6:30 p.m., with the movie beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Admission is a $5 donation, with all proceeds benefiting Mrs. Brown and her family as she continues her fight against breast cancer. Community members are encouraged to wear pink to show their support.

Concessions will be available, and guests are encouraged to bring blankets and enjoy the movie on the field. All concession donations will also go toward helping with medical expenses.

Carthage, TN (Sept. 12, 2026) – Baker Veterinary Services is celebrating its first year of serving Smith County and surrounding communities with a special anniversary celebration on Saturday, October 3, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will be held at the clinic, located at 334 Lebanon Highway in Carthage, TN.

During the anniversary celebration, Baker Veterinary Services will offer $10 off microchipping for cats and dogs, as well as free nail trims sponsored by Rockstar Grooming by Cassi Hayes.

The first 25 guests through the clinic doors will also receive a free pet goodie bag.

The goodies and fun don’t stop there! Two Bronze Dogs will be onsite with an inventory of pet treats, apparel, leashes, supplies and more. Wags to Wishes will also be onsite with its mobile grooming trailer, offering dog bathing services during the celebration.

Guests will have the opportunity to tour the clinic, learn more about the veterinary services offered, schedule future appointments and meet adoptable pets from Smith County Humane.

As part of the anniversary celebration, Baker Veterinary Services is also recognizing its existing clients and welcoming new customers with a special October referral promotion. Throughout the entire month of October, excluding October 3, existing and new customers can receive a $5 account credit through the practice’s Anniversary Referral Program.

The program is simple: When a new customer books an appointment during October, they can mention the name of the person who referred them. At that time, both the referring customer and the new customer will receive a $5.00 account credit.

Living Water Ministries will be at the William Walton Days festival on Saturday, September 26, where they will hold a raffle featuring eight themed baskets.

The baskets include men’s, women’s, kids’ and neutral options, with prizes ranging from car-care and fishing supplies to hair-care products, kitchen items, gift cards, coffee items and toys.

Adult raffle tickets are $10 for one or $20 for three, while kids’ basket tickets are $5 for one or $10 for three. The raffle will begin at 9 a.m., with the drawing held at 3 p.m. Winners will have 10 minutes to collect their prizes after being called.

The Lancaster Fire Department will host its 36th Annual Firehall Jam on Saturday, September 12, beginning at 5 p.m.

A Bake Sale and Yard Sale Fundraiser will be held September 3 and 4 to support Team Levi and the family of Kayla, Nick, Merci and Levi.

ARCHERY ANTLERED-ONLY PRIVATE LANDS DEER HUNT, AUGUST 28-30

NASHVILLE — The 2026 Tennessee three-day archery antlered-only deer season will be held Aug. 28-30 for private lands only and select Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs) in Deer Management Unit 1. Hunters will need to check the 2026-27 Tennessee Fishing, Hunting, and Trapping Guide for individual WMA regulations.

The Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission voted in 2018 to establish the 3-day season to allow hunters to harvest a buck with velvet-covered antlers. The annual bag limit for antlered deer is two statewide, no more than one per day. Deer taken during this three-day hunt will count toward the bag limit.

Hunters are encouraged to ensure their licenses are up to date before the season begins. Licenses can be purchased or renewed through gooutdoorstennessee.com, the TWRA Mobile App, TWRA regional offices, or any TWRA license agent.

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency is responsible for protecting, managing, and conserving fish and wildlife species for the benefit of Tennesseans and visitors. The Agency also maintains public safety through law enforcement and safety education on waterways.

The Defeated Creek Marina Flea Market & Craft Fair will return to Carthage on Saturday, September 5, offering a full day of shopping, food, live music and family fun.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Defeated Creek Marina, located at 160 Marina Lane. Visitors can browse a wide variety of vendors featuring handmade crafts, baked goods, antiques, collectibles, clothing, permanent jewelry, candles, home décor, crochet items, succulents, boutiques and more.

Several food trucks will also be on hand, including Big Back BBQ, Piper’s Choice Lemonade, Old School Dogs and Farmhouse Teas.

Children can enjoy bounce houses, face painting and a petting zoo throughout the event. Live music will be provided by Bear Geho from noon until 3 p.m.
