Jason Stewart announces candidacy for District 2 County Commission (Tanglewood)

May 21, 2018

My name is Jason Stewart and I would like to formally announce my candidacy for District 2 County Commissioner, which includes the communities of Turkey Creek, Monoville, Riddleton, Tanglewood, and Dixon Springs. I have been a life long resident of Smith County, growing up in Defeated and graduating from Defeated Elementary. I then graduated from Smith County High School in 2000. There, I met my beautiful wife Bridgett England Stewart of 16 years. Together we have two wonderful daughters, Brooklynn who attends Gordonsville High School and my youngest daughter Bailey who attends Gordonsville Elementary.

I have been a servant for Smith County for the past 16 years. In July of 2002 I started out as a police officer for the town of Carthage City. I graduated at Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy in December of 2002. I then transferred to the Smith County Sheriff’s Office in October of 2006 where I worked as a road deputy until August of 2008. I then transferred to Gordonsville High School as their school resource officer, in which I have been proudly working with these young kids for the last 10 years. I am currently the acting supervisor over the School Resource Officer Division here in Smith County.

I was raised up at Peytons Creek Baptist Church, and have been a member of North Carthage Baptist church since 2005 where my family and I attend. Being involved with the school system and our youth of this community makes them my top priority. I would be honored to continue serving our great county as your Commissioner. I humbly ask for your support and vote on Election Day, August 2. Early voting is July 13 – July 28. Thank you and may God Bless Smith County and its residents.
