Greta Kirby announces candidacy for District 2 County Commission (Tanglewood)

June 21, 2018

I look forward to representing District 2 (Tanglewood) on the County Commission. I was born and raised in the 4-Way Inn/Smith Branch community of Smith County. I have walked the hills and fished the waters of this beautiful county. My husband of 39 years is Glen Kirby.

I attended college at MTSU & received my BS degree in 1975 and an AD from TSU in 1983. I was a professional R.N. from 1983 to 2004 before I retired back to Smith County. Since then I have volunteered locally for several different charitable endeavors which has included accordion music ministry at the Smith Co. Senior Citizen’s Center and the Concordia Nursing Home and I am a full-time pianist and treasurer for Granville United Methodist Church. I also volunteer as a guide at the Granville Homestead. I have been a member of the FCE (Family & Community Educators) for 14 years and received their “Best Of The Best” award in 2009 after having held various leadership positions within the organization.

My parents, Christopher (Bug) and Kate Anderson taught me to be a caring and responsible person and to give back to my community. I plan to do just that when elected to the County Commission. We have challenges ahead and I intend to be diligent, reliable and intelligent on the very important issues which challenge Smith County. Thank you for your vote and for your allegiance to Smith County!
