Smith County Insider posted an election poll on June 4, 2018, following the Smith County Candidate Forum and Meet & Greet. SCI received information that several loopholes had been discovered in the voting process, which caused the polling results to be inaccurate.
SCI has removed the original poll and replaced it with a new polling software. SCI believes the new polling software does not have any loopholes. The new poll should only allow one vote per user.
Smith County Insider polls are a way of encouraging users to express their views and participate in our community.
The polls are not based on scientific, representative samples and their results are vulnerable to manipulation by individuals or groups with an interest in the outcome. They are for entertainment only.
These polls do not constitute a reliable sounding of public opinion.
Online polls can be manipulated by orchestrated campaigns of like-minded individuals intent on stuffing the online poll. They also can be hacked by individuals or small groups using more sophisticated techniques to overcome multiple-voting restrictions.
We have no reliable method of determining whether or not an online poll has been manipulated. If, however, we see clear indications of manipulation we will remove the poll from our site. Nonetheless, all online polls are vulnerable, and evidence of manipulation may not be apparent even when it has occurred.
