(Smith County Insider Press) Gordonsville, Tenn. – Around 5:30am on Saturday, May 27, Smith County 911 received a call reporting a single vehicle accident on Gordonsville Highway at the Shell gas station (TNT Market).
When authorities arrived on scene, they found a 2005 Chevy Silverado in the parking lot of the TNT Market. The truck was traveling South on Gordonsville Highway, when it exited the right side of the road way, hit a ditch embankment causing it to go airborne, then proceeded to strike a gas pump and concrete barrier. The gas pump came to a final rest 15-20 feet away from where it was mounted. The driver stated that he allegedly fell asleep while driving and veered off of the roadway.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as Jacob Short, 19, of Gordonsville, TN. Short was not injured in the ancient.
No citations were issued.
M&W Towing removed the vehicle from the scene.
