The Smith County Sheriff’s Office welcomes two new deputies to their force, Steven Enoch and Josh Williams. Enoch and Williams recently graduated from the Tennessee Law Enforcement Academy on December 21. Below is a press release about the graduation:
NASHVILLE – Over 80 newly certified law enforcement officers will graduate from the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy (TLETA) at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 21, 2017 during a ceremony to be held at the Al Menah Shrine Temple (1354 Brick Church Pike, Nashville, TN).
“The choice to pursue a career in law enforcement means dedication and a willingness to serve others,” said TLETA Director Brian Grisham. “I congratulate the students of Basic Police School Class 1834 for choosing to pursue a rewarding career that enables them to serve and protect Tennessee communities.”
TLETA’s Basic Police School course provides technical and tactical expertise in addition to the ethical and professional standards of law enforcement necessary for success. The newly certified officers will join thousands of law enforcement officers who have studied at TLETA during its 50-year existence. As Tennessee’s premier law enforcement training facility, TLETA has trained 21,000 officers in basic recruit schools since 1966.
Graduates of Basic Police School Class 1834 will serve the following police departments (PD), sheriffs’ offices (SO), and state agencies:

SO, Germantown PD, Giles Co. SO, Hamilton Co. SO, Hendersonville PD, Hickman Co. SO, , Hohenwald PD, Houston Co. SO, Humboldt PD, Jackson PD, Lauderdale Co. SO, Lawrence Co. SO, Madison Co. SO, Maury Co. SO, McMinnville PD, Montgomery Co. SO, Mount Juliet PD, Murfreesboro PD, Obion Co. SO, Paris PD, Pulaski PD, Shelbyville PD, Smith Co. SO, Smyrna PD, Sumner Co. SO, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Tennessee State Parks, Trenton PD, Trousdale Co. SO, Williamson Co. SO, and Wilson Co. SO.
Tennessee State Parks Chief Ranger Shane Petty will be the graduation speaker.
The next Basic Police School class begins January 7, 2018.
