The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District park rangers at Cordell Hull Lake are hosted the first annual “Touch a Truck Day” on Saturday, June 9, 2018 to coincide with “National Get Outdoors Day.”

The free community event promoted safety and services offered in the surrounding communities.

Some agencies and businesses that participated include North Central Fire Department, Smith County Emergency Management Services, Tennessee State Parks, and Tennessee Kayak and Outdoor Company, to name a few.

The event educated children and parents about the insides of first responders’ vehicles and also for children to meet the first responders.

Smith County Insider reporter JR Smith had a chance to sit down with US Army Corps of Engineers Park Ranger Ashley Webster to discuss this event.
