(Smith County Insider Press)—Two men and a juvenile have been arrested after they allegedly chased a vehicle from Smyrna, Tennessee, to the 258 Eastbound exit in Gordonsville, Tennessee.

On July 21, 2018, officers from the Smith County Sheriff’s Department received a report of a blue Chevy Impala actively attempting to run another vehicle off the roadway. Officers waited at the Gordonsville exit and initiated a traffic stop when the vehicle in question came into view.

According to the police report, Sergeant Kendra Grisham observed the Impala accelerate around the right side of the vehicle it had been chasing, causing the Impala to nearly strike Grisham’s patrol car as it travelled along the exit ramp.

Grisham immediately initiated a traffic stop, and other officers from the Gordonsville Police Department and the Smith County Sheriff’s Office were called to the scene.

During the traffic stop, officers made contact with the driver of the vehicle, Daelen Bryce Sims (18, Smyrma), as well as two passengers, Zachary Dylan Fann (19, Murfreesboro) and a juvenile.

Sims admitted that he had been chasing the other vehicle on the Interstate.

According to the police report, Fann became agitated during questioning, and he actively resisted when officers attempted to restrain him.

During a search of the suspects’ vehicle, a small amount of marijuana, rolling papers, and a set of digital scales were discovered. Sims and Fann were both discovered to be in possession of additional marijuana on their persons, as well.

Sims, Fann, and the juvenile were transported to the Smith County Sheriff’s Office for booking.

Fann is charged with one count of resisting arrest and one count of possession of controlled substances.

Sims is charged with one count of felony possession of drug paraphernalia, one count of possession of controlled substances, and six counts of felony reckless endangerment.
