Jack Givens
(Smith County Insider Press) – On January 18, 2018, Officer Ridge Long with the Carthage Police Department encountered Jack Givens (54, Carthage) at the Carthage City Park.
According to the arrest warrant, Givens consented to a search of his person and his vehicle. While searching the vehicle, Officer Long located a clear bag in the center console containing 15 yellow pills determined to be oxycodone.
Givens did not have a valid prescription and claimed ownership of the pills. He was transported to the Smith County Sheriff’s Office for booking.
At the Smith County Sheriff’s Office, according to the arrest warrant, Givens was asked if he had anything hidden on his person before entering the jail. Givens removed a baggie containing half of a suboxone pill.
Givens is charged with simple possession of schedule VI and possession of controlled substances.
