(Smith County Insider Press) – On January 14, 2018, Sgt. Dusty Hailey with the Smith County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint about roofing materials that had been dumped on Old Sanders Creek Road.

Upon arrival, Sgt. Hailey located a pile of shingles next to the road in a ditch. A roofing contractor was found at 145 Hogans Creek Road performing a job.

According to the police report, Sgt. Hailey spoke with Julio Lindo (34, Antioch), who said that he was in charge of the job. Sgt. Hailey asked Lindo if he had dumped the shingles. Lindo first said no, but later admitted to dumping the shingles because the landfill was closed.

Sgt. Hailey ordered Lindo to remove the shingles from the road. According to the police report, Lindo stated he could only get half of the shingles in his truck and would have to come back the following day, January 15, to get the rest.

On January 22, SCSO received a call from a resident in the area who informed them that the shingles had not been removed. The County Highway Department sent a crew to remove the items. A warrant for aggravated criminal littering was obtained and faxed to Davidson County.

Lindo is charged with Aggravated Criminal Littering.
