FedEx truck fire on I-40 in Gordonsville

(Smith County Insider Press) Gordonsville, Tenn. – Around 1:00 am on Thursday morning, July 27, Smith County 911 received a call reporting a tractor-trailer truck fire on I-40 west bound around the 257 mile marker.

Upon arrival, emergency responders found a FedEx Ground trailer engulfed in flames. The fire is believed to have been caused by the brakes of the trailer overheating. The truck was completely loaded with packages.

The driver of the truck was identified as Carlton Dixon, 32, of Memphis, TN.

Gordonsville, New Middleton, and Central District Fire Departments were dispatched to the scene. Smith County Sheriff’s Office and THP also assisted at the scene.
