Dump truck overturns on Gordonsville Highway

(Smith County Insider Press) South Carthage, Tenn. – On Monday, June 5, Smith County 911 received a call reporting a single vehicle accident involving a dump truck on Gordonsville Highway in South Carthage.

When authorities arrived on scene, they found a 2013 Mack dump truck on its side. The truck was traveling South on Gordonsville Highway when it exited the right side of the roadway, overcorrected, and overturned. The dump truck was hauling rock ore from the zinc mine. The rock ore covered the South bound lane of Gordonsville Highway.

The dump truck belonged to Crockett-Phillips Construction, Inc. located in Gordonsville, TN.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as JT Sanders Jr., 49, of Smith County. Sanders was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center by Smith County EMS with non-life-threatening injuries.

No citations were issued.

The truck was removed from the scene by M&W Towing.
