Concordia Care Smith County Resident Alberta Oakley Turns 100

Carthage, TN – Alberta Enoch was born August 4, 1917 in Grant, TN. She was married in 1936 to Mr. Ben Oakley. Together she and her husband ran a dairy farm with about 45 cows. The sold their milk to a distributor out of Nashville.

Mrs. Oakley does not take a lot of credit for the dairy production. She says she was mostly a housewife and took care of the children making sure there were three meals on the table everyday. The couple were married for 60 years when he passed away.

She has three daughters, 8 grand children and 2 great grand children.

Mrs. Oakley came to Concordia on Jan 14,2015 after she had Pneumonia. While she was recovering from the illness, she fell and broke her left hip, resulting in a hip replacement. She was unable to return home by herself, so she stayed at the skilled nursing facility. She says “ If you cannot be at home, this is the next best thing. It is all about how everyone treats me – like family!”
