(Smith County Insider Press) Pleasant Shade, Tenn. — On Thursday, September 28, a bridge dedication ceremony was held at the intersection of Highway 80 (Pleasant Shade Highway) and Little Creek Road. The bridge was dedicated in the memory of Billy Lankford, former Smith County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy.

Billy Lankford passed away at age 51 on April 6, 2010. Preceded in death by mother, Earline Lankford; brother, Davie Neal Lankford. Survived by wife, Kathy Givens Lankford; sons, Seth & Jacob Lankford of Cookeville; father, Neal Lankford & wife Brenda of Tanglewood; brothers, Ronnie Lankford & wife Christy of Tanglewood, Jimmy Lankford & wife Debbie of Hartsville; mother-in-law, Ruth Givens.
