(Smith County Insider Press)—On October 9, 2018, a traffic stop conducted by Smith County Sheriff’s Deputy Jake O’Neal and Sergeant Ridge Long led to the arrest of two women, Vickie Lee Bunch (62, Pleasant Shade) and Michelle Leanne Gregory (35, Gordonsville).
According to the police report, Sergeant Long deployed K-9 Constance during the traffic stop, and she indicated positive to the presence of illegal substances.
During a search of Bunch and Gregory’s vehicle, officers discovered a black pouch containing a small amount of methamphetamine, two half pills of Oxycodone, a used syringe, a cut straw with residue, and multiple clear baggies.
Additionally, 28 Gabapentin pills and 5 Propranolol pills were found on Bunch’s person.
Bunch and Gregory were placed under arrest and transported to the Smith County Sheriff’s Office for booking.
Upon arriving inside the jail, Bunch indicated that she did not have any illegal substances on her person, but a small plastic bag containing two types of pills was found during a search by one of the jail’s correctional officers.
Gregory is charged with one count of felony possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of possession of controlled substances.
Bunch is charged with three counts of possession of controlled substances, one count of possession of a Legend drug without a prescription, and one count of introduction of contraband into jail.
