The 2019 Smith County Cattlemen’s Association annual meeting was held on January 28, 2019, at the Smith County Ag Center in Carthage. A tremendous crowd of 130+ enjoyed a meal sponsored by Performance Feed & Merck Animal Health and heard from a variety of speakers including outgoing TCA President and Smith County resident Steve Anderson.

One of the highlights of the annual meeting each year is the presentation of the Producer of the Year award. This year’s winner was James Dillard. Mr. Dillard is well known for using new technology and the latest genetics to maintain one of the best commercial cowherds in the Upper Cumberland.

For the 5th year in a row, a bred heifer was auctioned during the meeting as a fundraiser that will help with the scholarship fund. The registered Angus heifer was donated by B.L. Owen this year. Scholarship recipients for 2018 were Hallie Dillard, Tyler Clemons, Stefanie Driver, and Will Broyles.

The Smith County Cattlemen’s Association would like to thank all the members for being a part of our organization and to give a special thanks to those who had a hand in making this year’s annual meeting a success. We’d like to invite everyone to our Open Beef Show on May 4 and encourage you to follow us on facebook at Smith County Cattlemen’s Association.
