The UT Extension office in Smith County has two upcoming educational opportunities for livestock producers.

The Upper Cumberland Extension team is conducting the annual Upper Cumberland Small Ruminant Conference in Overton County on February 21-22 at the Gene Medley Rotary Ag Building located at the fairgrounds.

This two-day educational event will cover topics such as reproduction, predation, forages, health and parasites, production, and a panel discussion. Also, attendees that attend both days will receive a Master Small Ruminant certificate and sign for their farm.

We will also be conducting the Master Beef class on February 18, 20, 25, March 3 & 10. Producers must attend each session to graduate the class. Sessions will be held at 6:00 p.m. at the Smith County Ag Center. Topics include Trailer Safety & Regulations, Marketing, Forages, Herd Health, and much more.

Each of these classes has a fee of $75 for an individual or $100 for a couple. Early-bird registration ends February 14 and registration information can be picked up at the UT Extension office at 125 Gordonsville Hwy in Carthage, or online at smith.tennessee.edu.
