(Smith County Insider Press) – On February 1, 2020, Deputy Daniel McCoy made a traffic stop on a vehicle on Gordonsville Highway near Wal-Mart. The driver of the vehicle, Jacob McBride (20, Jamestown), gave consent to search the vehicle. McBride admitted there was marijuana in the vehicle.

According to the police report, Officer John Baiera with the Carthage Police Department arrived to assist in removing the passenger, Joshua Linder (24, Jamestown), from the vehicle. When Officer Baiera began to remove the marijuana from the vehicle, he found a white SCCY CPX-2 9mm pistol under the driver seat. The pistol was loaded with one round in the chamber.

According to the police report, Sergeant Junior Fields arrived to assist with the search. A clear case containing 7.96 grams of a crystal substance along with 5 baggies containing a total of sixty 2mg Alprazolam pills was located in a cup holder. A set of digital scales containing white residue were located in the back seat.
