Edward Philip Sprout
On November 29, 2017, Trooper Jason Cobble with the Tennessee Highway Patrol stopped a Black Chrysler 300 traveling 86 miles per hour in a 70 mile per hour zone.
According to the THP citation, the driver of the vehicle gave his name as Scott Haas with the date of birth 11/15/1969. The driver was later identified to be Edward Sprout (48, Crossville). The vehicle was registered to a Britney McCarty.
It was determined that Sprout’s license had been revoked following a DUI in Cumberland County in 2011.
During a search of the vehicle, according to the THP citation, a crystal rock-like substance, believed to be methamphetamine, was located in the trunk. Also in the trunk was a white powder believed to be cocaine.
A field test of the rock-like substance was conducted by the Smith County Sheriff’s Office which showed positive for methamphetamine.
Additionally, 3 pipes with residue were found in the vehicle.
Sprout is charged with driving on revoked, possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to use, two counts of possession of schedule II, and criminal impersonation.
