Suspended South Carthage officer facing misdemeanor charges in Davidson County turns himself in

May 31, 2017

(Smith County Insider Press) — A South Carthage police officer cited on misdemeanor charges in Davidson County earlier this month has turned himself in to the Metro Nashville Police Department.

According to a police report filed by the MNPD, Heath Willard (22, Pleasant Shade) was observed engaging in a “hand-to-hand transaction” between his vehicle and another on Bell Road near Donelson.

A MNPD officer made contact with Willard and observed a half-cut Opana pill (schedule II), according to the report.

During a search of Willard’s person, detectives found two baggies with crushed pill residue inside his wallet.

Willard was also in possession of his handgun issued to him by the South Carthage Police Department.

He was issued state citations for simple possession of schedule II, possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of a weapon.

Willard turned himself in Thursday morning (May 25) and was booked on the above charges.

The South Carthage Police Department suspended Willard earlier this month pending the outcome of the charges he faces.

Smith County Insider will provide more details on this developing story as they become available.
