Speeding Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrest on Alexandria Hwy.

On June 17th, 2021, K9 Sgt. Ridge Long conducted a traffic stop in Alexandria due to a vehicle speeding. Upon making contact with the driver, Benjamin T. Locke, Sgt. Long smelled the odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle.

Mr. Locke was asked to exit the vehicle. Upon searching the vehicle, 6 grams of marijuana, 5 ecstasy pills, 12 20mg amphetamine pills, 4 30mg amphetamine pills, 10 5mg diazepam pills, 6 2mg diazepam pills, 1 clonazepam pill, and a loaded 9mm handgun was found. In addition to that, 1.5 grams of psilocybin mushroom was found along with one hit of LSD, 1 THC edible, and a pipe with marijuana residue.

He was placed under arrest and transported to the Smith County Sheriff’s office for processing.

He is being charged with possession of firearm while under the influence, possession of drug paraphernalia, and 8 counts of possession of controlled substances.

He is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
