Smith County Weather Report: June 18th, 2021

June 18, 2021

by Steve Norris, Smith County Insider Weather Correspondent

Thunderstorms return to the forecast for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. The remainder of June is looking like below-normal temperatures and above-normal rainfall. I do not see any excessively hot weather for the next two weeks for our area.

Summer begins this Sunday, June 20th. The Summer Solstice is the longest day and the shortest night of the year. This is also the day of the year when the sun is highest in the sky but the hottest weather usually doesn’t come until August, this is called seasonal lag.

That bright planet that you can see in the Western sky after Sunset is our evening star, Venus. You can reach me anytime if you need weather information, email weather1@charter.net
