Smith County Weather Report: July 1st, 2021

July 1, 2021

by Steve Norris, Smith County Insider Weather Correspondent

It is time for one of my favorite holidays of the year! It is hard to beat baked beans, hot dogs, and a cold drink followed by lovely fireworks , and this year Mother Nature is going to provide some lovely weather for Independence Day. We will have sunny days and clear nights from Saturday through Monday with high temperatures climbing from the low 80s on Saturday to the low 90s by Monday. From the 6th of July to the 14th, I am expecting hot and humid with temperatures in the 90s and scattered thunderstorm chances each day.

July and  August is the lightning season in Tennessee.  Stay inside if you can hear thunder and stay away from electrical appliances. When you see lightning start counting until you hear thunder and then divide that number by five and that tells you how many miles away the storm is. If you count to 30 the storm is 6 Miles away.
