April 1, 2021

It is going to be a lovely Easter weekend with lots of sunshine to enjoy. Easter Sunrise is 6:25 a.m. Saturday is our third consecutive morning of frost, but we start a warming trend now that will continue through all of next week with highs in the 70s. A big warming trend is coming for April 5th to the 9th with high temperatures near 80 or above. As April goes along, I am expecting it to get warmer with above normal temperatures and the threat of severe weather will continue to increase as we get further into our tornado season.

Rainfall amounts from March 25th to the 28th were equal to what we would normally get in a two month period In portions of Middle Tennessee. There was a band from near Franklin in Williamson County to the Brentwood area in Davidson County that received 9 to 11 inches of rain with much of that falling on Saturday producing the devastating floods. 8 to 10 inches of rain fell in Smith County from March 25th to the 31st. There were also numerous reports of hail up to quarter size and wind damage in the mid-state last weekend. Tennessee has been pounded by severe weather and the season has just started.
