On June 11th, 2021, Smith County Rescue Squad, Smith County EMS, and Smith County Sheriff’s Department were called to Bearwaller Gap in Defeated to rescue a 23 year old female who had fallen and fractured her leg.
Personnel determined that it would be best to bring the patient out by boat. She was safely loaded onto the boat and transported to the Defeated Creek Campground where she was put onto the EMS unit and taken to a medical facility for treatment.
It was an extremely hot day out, and the crews had to endure heavy rain during the rescue. All agencies involved responded in the best way possible.
