Today’s “Educator Spotlight” features Shawn Frye, Principal at New Middleton Elementary School.

Shawn has been in the education field for 22 years.

Smith County Insider interviewed Shawn about his experiences as an educator, and this is what he had to say.

SCI: When did you realize that you wanted to be a teacher?

SF: The first business class I had in college; I soon realized I had to find something else.

SCI: What is the most rewarding part of your job?

SF: The hugs

SCI: What inspires you?

SF: Making a difference

SCI: What’s the best piece of advice you have for your students?

SF: No matter what you are doing, make sure you do your best!

SCI: What do you like to do in your free time?

SF: Golf and lake
