September 2021 Meeting of The Carthage City Council

The Carthage City Council held its monthly meeting on Thursday, September 2nd, 2021, at 6:00 pm.

Several agenda items were discussed. Several bills were approved including the new HVAC for the Steven’s building and the walking track. The Mayor’s report showed how community members came together to gather supplies for the Waverly Flood victims, as well as donations to The Spot and The Emmanuel House,

It was approved to order new equipment for a couple patrol cars, and a forklift for the water department. The council discussed the option of hiring a codes enforcement officer for various problems including people blowing mowed grass onto the streets which in turn stops up the storm drains.

Josh Gibbs from the Smith County Football League shared his thoughts on the need for immediate lights on the practice field, and the council approved to get lights up ASAP.
