Smith County EMS/911 Director Jeff Crockett

SCI: When did you realize this is what you wanted to do?

JC: I started as an EMR with the Jackson County Rescue Squad and a part-time “driver” for Jackson County EMS, and I was hooked.

SCI: What is the best thing about your job?

JC: Helping people at what could be one of the worst times in their lives

SCI: What is your proudest work accomplishment?

JC: Staying in the business as long as I have and having the opportunity to lead the great group of employees at Smith County EMS and 911

SCI: What advice would you give someone looking to go into your field?

JC: Give 110% every day, never stop updating and educating yourself, always be compassionate and understanding with those you serve

SCI: What are your favorite hobbies and activities outside of work?

JC: Baseball, anything outside, and being a dad to three great kids. I am also a licensed Funeral Director and enjoy working with Sanderson Funeral Home when I have the opportunity.

SCI: Is there anything else you want to share with the readers of Smith County Insider?

JC: Be thankful to live in a county that has a well trained, dedicated bunch of EMRs, EMTs, Paramedics, and Dispatchers, as well as government officials willing to provide new, updated equipment for them to work with.

Thank you for your dedicated service to Smith County, Jeff!
