For this week’s First Responder Friday, Smith County Insider interviewed Dustin Dillehay, a Critical Care Paramedic from Carthage, Tennessee.
Dustin has served as a first responder for 9 years.
SCI: When did you realize this is what you wanted to do?
DD: I got into volunteer fire and realized that I liked to help people and wanted to do more for people, so I started my EMS career.
SCI: What is the best thing about your job?
DD: Being able to help someone when it really matters
SCI: What is your proudest work accomplishment?
DD: Passing the critical care paramedic class and working for the place where I live
SCI: What advice would you give someone looking to go into your field?
DD: To always show compassion regardless of how big or small the emergency is
SCI: What are your favorite hobbies and activities outside of work?
DD: Hunting, fishing, and spending time with family and friends
