School Board acknowledges GHS Golf State Champion Sophie Linder

At the February meeting of the Smith County Board of Education, Director of Schools Barry Smith presented GHS student Sophie Linder with a certificate of achievement to celebrate her accomplishments on the Gordonsville High School Golf Team.

Last fall, Sophie Linder was crowned the winner of the 2019 TSSAA Golf Individual State Championship in the Girls Small Class division.

Sophie was also a 2019 district and region medalist, and she shot a record low of 664 during the region tournament.

The 2019 TSSAA Golf State Championship took place on October 8 and 9 at the WillowBrook Golf Club in Manchester, Tennessee.

During the School Board meeting, 9-12 Supervisor of Instruction and CTE Director Tim Towns, GHS Principal Shane Vaden, and members of the school board commended Sophie for her hard work, dedication, and the excellent way she represents Gordonsville High School and Smith County.
