Smith County Insider initially reported that eight patients were being transported to Riverview Regional Medical Center and that they had tested positive for COVID-19. This is incorrect information.
None of the patients that have been transferred to Riverview Regional Medical Center have tested positive for COVID-19 at this time.
Riverview Regional Medical Center is currently providing step-down care for six patients from the now-evacuated Gallatin Center for Rehabilitation and Healing.
On Monday afternoon, a representative from Riverview Regional Medical Center released the following statement:
This weekend, our sister facility, Sumner Regional Medical Center (SRMC), launched a swift emergency response to accommodate a large number of patients from the now evacuated Gallatin Center for Rehabilitation and Healing. This has been a rapidly evolving situation, and our leadership teams across HighPoint Health System have worked together to develop a plan for immediately – and significantly – increasing our capacity across the system. As a part of our coordinated, system-wide effort, Riverview Regional Medical Center is now providing step-down care for six patients who do not require critical care at SRMC. While we are not treating patients who have tested positive for COVID-19, we are taking every precaution to protect the health of our patients, providers, staff members and our wider communities.
