Over 150 Families Helped by Smith County Mobile Food Pantry

April 15, 2018

The Smith County monthly Mobile Food Pantry distribution was April 11, at the Smith County Ag Center. Over 60 volunteers from various churches and community service members attended to help create and distribute boxes of food to over 150 cars. Each car has the potential to help between one and four families. The Mobile Food Pantry is helping people that are on fixed incomes, single mothers, and the elderly, who would otherwise struggle if it weren’t for this happening every month.

The food pantry distribution is provided by the Second Harvest Food Bank, Living Water Ministries, and directed by Bill Woodard as a part of the Smith County Chamber of Commerce’s community outreach program. It is available on the second Wednesday of every month, except July, with an occasional additional day on Fridays and Saturdays.

For more information about the Mobile Food Pantry, please call the Smith County Chamber of Commerce at 615-735-2093.
