(Smith County Insider Press) – On December 8, 2019, at approximately 7:56 PM, Patrolman Stephen Enoch with the Carthage Police Department made contact with a man who was slumped over in his truck at Smith County Discount Tobacco. According to the police report, the man in the truck, Rex Dixon (57, Kempville), stated he was sleeping while waiting for the store to open.

According to the police report, Dixon was confused and had trouble locating his documentation. His speech was also slurred. A pill bottle was seen in the center console of the vehicle, and Dixon consented to Patrolman Enoch inspecting the bottle. The bottle had been refilled with 72 Buprenorphine-naloxone pills on the day before, December 7. The bottle only contained 48 and a half pills. Dixon was asked to step out of the vehicle, and he was very unsteady on his feet.

According to the police report, Dixon admitted to trading pills with his brother and cousin. Dixon was then detained and frisked. While being frisked, Dixon admitted to having 8 cyclobenzaprine-hydrochloride in his pocket.

Dixon was placed under arrest and transported to the Smith County Jail for booking. Dixon is charged with public intoxication, possession of controlled substances, and fraud for a forged prescription.
